Biography

W. Steven Middleton is a lifelong Kentucky resident. He graduated from Tates Creek High School in Lexington in 2007 and attended the University of Kentucky, earning a B.A. in Political Science in 2011 and his law degree in 2014. Mr. Middleton is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Franklin County Bar Association, the Kentucky Justice Association (serving on the Legislative Committee and the Courts/Rules Committee), and the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (serving on the DUI Committee). Mr. Middleton is admitted to practice in all state courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and b the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

As a law student in 2012, Mr. Middleton was a summer law clerk for Franklin Circuit Court Judge Phillip Shepherd. The following summer, Mr. Middleton was a summer law clerk for Judge Joseph M. Hood of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. During his third year of law school, Mr. Middleton was a research assistant for legendary University of Kentucky Law Professor Rutheford B. “Biff” Campbell. During his second year of law school, Mr. Middleton was a staff member of the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agricultural, and Natural Resources Law (KJEANRL). In his third year, Mr. Middleton was an articles editor for KJEANRL.

Following law school, Mr. Middleton worked as an associate attorney at the firm of Johnson Newcomb, LLP in Frankfort. That firm evolved into Johnson Bearse, LLP. Mr. Middleton subsequently joined the newly opened Frankfort office of Goldberg Simpson LLC in 2020. Throughout his career, Mr. Middleton has practiced throughout the Bluegrass Region and has vast experience in the areas of family law, criminal defense, probate/estate planning, general civil litigation, administrative law, real estate transactions, and appellate practice. Mr. Middleton lives in Lexington.
